Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin Film Trailer Review

Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin 2016 movie Adaptation of Bob Ong's Novel Episode 2 is directed by Andoy Ranay starring Maricel Soriano, Herbert Bautista, and Shy Carlos

What can be said about the Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin official movie trailer? Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin looks interesting and fun. Those who have read or followed the original Bob Ong novel may expect more but for those of us who hasn't read it, the film through this trailer looks like it is a lot of fun. Fun in a sense that it seems to be smart as it satirizes television and movie (or entertainment industry) cliche as a whole. Because come on, how many times have we looked at someone whom we are watching something and simply as "Why?" as the actions of the on-screen performers are doing exactly what we call rational and in the realm of common sense. This reminds me of a similar segment in GMA Network's Bubble Gang called Antonietta where the antagonist Antonietta (played by Betong Sumaya) satirizes telenovela cliche. Here is a sample:

Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin 2016 movie Adaptation of Bob Ong's Novel Episode 3 directed by Chris Martinez starring Christine Reyes, Antoinette Taus, and Paolo Ballesteros

Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin has tons of breaking the fourth wall which seems to be the case in most comedy films that we've seen as of late; mainly from films starring Vice Ganda and or those directed by Wenn DeRamas. In Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin's case it seems like this is going to be the main running theme in its three episodes. The question is whether Viva Films Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin is the "smart" comedy that some of us are looking forward to finally see or it is simply another brainless slapstick one that the industry has spoiled the majority of Filipino movie going fans. Will the film be a straight or loyal to its resource material? These questions and my curiosity will make me want to check this film out over this weekend.

How about you guys? What do you think about the 2016 movie adaptation of Bob Ong's 2011 novel Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin? Have you read the satirical parody novel? If yes, then did Viva Films with its director properly cast the film or do you have someone else in mind that could have played the roles in the book? Para Sa Hopeless Romantic
Plot / Synopsis

Para sa Hopeless Romantic is the Star Cinema movie adaptation from Marcelo Santos III's hit romantic novel of the same title about a girl (Becca) who fell in love but was eventually got her heart broken by her supposed prince (Nico). The brokenhearted Becca then started writing a supposedly romantic novel with fictitious characters mirroring her personal story and tragedy. What will be the outcome of the characters of her story? What will happen to her own love story?

Para Sa Hopeless Romantic Film Trailer Review

Para sa Hopeless Romantic uses three tried-and-tested formula for another successful Philippine romantic film: a soundtrack which is "Ikaw" by Yeng Constantino that target its loyal musical demographic, two of the "hottest" young romantic teenage on-screen couples (Nadine Lustre and James Reid x Julia Barretto and Inigo Pascual), and a story like "no other" from one of the more contemporary "best-selling" author (for the teenage-young adult market), Marcelo Santos III.

Movie adaptation of Marcelo Santos III novel Para sa Hopeless Romantic about a heartbroken girl creating a fictitious tragic love story mirroring her life with sountrack Ikaw by Yeng Constantino

Star Cinema has been the leading producer of "quality" romantic films (to a fault) throughout the years and Para sa Hopeless Romantic with cooperation of another film producer giant Viva Films is definitely one of them. If something is not broken, why fix it right? As long big corporations produces new artist every millenia, there will always be a film for its younger generation and those who love everything that gives out the "kilig-factor". A variation of the story with different artists just like what Kim Chiu & Gerald Anderson, Regine Velasquez & Ariel Rivera, and even Nora Aunor and Tirso Cruz III did in the past. That their film's stories and pairings will disappear to obscurity only to be placed by another more contemporary version of it which is only (or has become) "normal" by mainstream Philippine movie standards.

How about you guys, what do you think about this film adaptation of Marcelo Santos III novel? What will drive you to watch Para sa Hopeless Romantic? Will it be because of the artists, story (by Marcelo Santos III), or soundtrack? What is your favorite romantic film of the past and what made it that unforgettable to you? Sosy Problems Film Trailer Review

The struggles of our impoverished fellow countrymen have been used so many times by the Philippine movie industry that it makes you ask, can't they think of something else? Well poverty is indeed a good theme for films. It is what gives conflict to dramas, gives strength to the protagonists in action films, and makes a person breaks the convention of the love between a completely opposite social classes in romantic films. But what about those rich people? Well, GMA Films made that somehow possible with its 2012 MMFF entry Sosy Problems.

The "sosy" in Sosy Problems is a shortened Filipino term for "sosyal" which directly translatesto a socialite or any person who is rich, educated, fashionable society and is fond of social activities. So enough of the lives of the poor as it has overly saturated the Filipino film industry, who cares if they starved to death when we have beautiful ladies worrying what color of signature dress to wear for the day's event?

Sosy Problems 2012 MMFF comedy drama film about the problems of rich beautiful socialites or sossy girls conio girls

Let's credit GMA Films for producing this "unique" kind of a film which we don't usually see made to film.... probably due to a reason hahaha. I don't know what kind of movie audience it is aimed for. Is it the female teenagers, sosy or coño people, or the fans of the actors playing in the the film? It is really not that surprising to see this "quality" of film nowadays, especially if you look at past Metro Manila Film Festival entries. I would be more curious to see what GMA Film's idea of how the the life of these ridiculously beautiful rich girls (portrayed by similarly gorgeous faces of Philippine show business) is like, than to see what "diabolical" but still pretty generic and cliched evil will Enteng face in his 7th title in the Enteng Kabisote film series.

It is quite a shame and insult to the hardworking people behind Sossy Problems to see that this film about beautiful women have an awful presentation with this low quality movie trailer release. I have observed a similar case with Of All the Things 2012 movie trailer. If this is the case on all GMA Films' official movie trailer then you won't be hearing any complaints from me, but GMA Films have Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles and Boy Pick-Up the Movie, and Si Agimat at Si Enteng at Si Ako and they have decent quality movie trailer. This kinds of poor film marketing makes me think that GMA Films has no confidence in most of the films they release for they can't even go the extra mile to provide the Filipino netizen who might still consider to watch this a quality and engaging movie trailer. Well this is technically one of the last title that GMA Films will release this year. Hopefully next year they can hire a better staff (marketing personnel) for their fim division who will upload a higher quality trailer on their official channels to at least make up for whatever uninteresting plot they might come up with for a film for 2013. Like the title of this GMA Film's 2012 MMFF entry, there is definitely a problem with Sosy Problems.
