Pridyider
Plot / Synopsis

Tina Benitez is a returning citizen. She’s been living abroad since childhood and she has not set foot in the country until now. She goes home to an empty house she inherited from her parents. Being sent abroad at such an early age, she does not have any memories of the house. But she cherishes it because it’s the only thing her deceased parents left her.

However, strange things start to happen inside the house particularly in the kitchen where an old, antique refrigerator can be found. At first, Tina dismisses the incidents, thinking it’s just her imagination. But soon enough, she witnesses the ref attacking and even consuming one of her guests.
Scared of what other harm the ref can do, she tries to get rid of it but to no avail. The refrigerator is unbelievably heavy. It cannot be lifted nor removed from its place. With some information from her neighbor and newfound friend Celine, Tina learns about the background of the refrigerator and its connection to her deceased parents.

As Tina tries to solve the mystery of the refrigerator, she also learns more about her parents’ disappearance and death. Her childhood friend James also joins her in her quest for the truth. Together, they uncover Tina’s unknown past and also discover how to create a “bomb” that can counter the evil powers of the refrigerator. But will they succeed in defeating it? Someone from Tina’s past also unexpectedly shows up to help them. But will Tina be willing to risk the life of this person, just to extinguish the devil inside the ref?

Pridyider Film Trailer Review

Here goes Regal Films again with their spoiler-ific synopsis available from their official movie channel (Pridyider's FB Page). Guess I just have to live with the fact that this is how these traditional film outfit roll in this modern age. I first watched the trailer and was fascinated a bit, before going on a search to find additional materials to be used in this trailer impression. Regal Films' marketing team didn't fail me as they have literally summarized the first half of the film with their synopises. I have this initial idea that the 2012 Pridyider would be a direct sequel to the 1986's Shake, Rattle and Roll episode as it still had Miss Janice De Belen on it, but I really don't know if this is one or just a reboot a.k.a. "spiritual successor" of the 1986 episode of SR&R. With that comes the mystery and curiosity.

It would be quite a bore to see the same scares and story anyways, so an update is really essential. This time we have fresh faces in Pridyider, with some few old ones in the casr which really gives you an idea that this could very well be a sequel, but it could also not be (Now I'm confusing you hahaha). I have vivid recollection of the first Shake, Rattle & Roll film, but the funny thing is that the whole film is currently available on Youtube as I make this Pridyider trailer impressions. Well, now that it is out there, it would only be just a matter of time before it gets taken down. But before they do, I've already watched it, and will make a review of Shake, Rattle & Roll I here in Pinoy Movie Blogger, so watch out for that one.

Well, since Regal has already spoil the hell out of this film no thanks to their synopsis, which I really can't understand what goes into the heads of their marketing team when they do that, but like I said earlier what is left for the movie goers to find out is the story behind the Pridyider and how does it ties up with the protagonist. Well saw the graphics used in the film and we can't really do a thing about it any more as this seems to be the trend of horror films nowadays. Oh, how I miss those gory and believable practical effects. Well, hopefully they have more time to polish those effects as they look really cheap. Come on Regal Films, you are already an empire! Can't you at least get better graphics than those? Well, it is probably just me, but gamers can have a general idea of what they made reference with dismembered body parts coming to life.

So what can we say? Well maybe you guys can try it JUST. I know I would but only for the sake of curiosity and nostalgia. Also, Regal Films should really need to work on the official press materials they release on their official channels. Yes, I am particularly referring to the synopsis they usually post as it usually leaves nothing to the imagination of its potential audience. Well if they didn't then they are in for a treat, or are they? A mediocre CGI with a little mystery, we'll give it an okay recommendation, you may give it a past or you may not. I would still check it out if ever my schedule frees up just for the sake of nostalgia and curiosity.
