Family History 2019 Filipino drama movie starring Michael V. and Dawn Zulueta as a married couple

What can be said about the Family History (2019) official movie trailer? Well, it is somewhat refreshing to see a family drama film featuring one of Philippines' funniest comedian, Michael V acting (and directing) alongside a Filipino drama film veteran, Dawn Zulueta. In most cases, comedians usually have this innate talent in being good in various dramatic roles. Michael V. has shown this a couple of times, usually on the smaller screen, usually in Eat Bulaga's Lenten specials. It is good, that his mother network (GMA Network) has finally entrusted him to direct and star in his very own drama film. So what can we expect with Family History?

Family History 2019 family drama film with Michael V., Dawn Zulueta, Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali dining table scene

From what we see in this trailer, the film tackles a love between someone who is not good looking (Michael V.) but ends up marrying his beautiful dream girl (Dawn Zulueta), which in most romantic films is a happily ever after, but this isn't this kind of film? Family History focuses on the plight of a couple, which seems to be all glossy and perfect on the outside but tells a different tale; of a failing marriage. These kinds of scenarios are not as rare as many would think and many (Filipino) couples and families can relate. The film could teach a valuable story about taking care of a marriage. The premise isn't something new, but with charismatic leads like Michael V. and Dawn Zulueta with the Bianca Umali-Miguel Tanfelix loveteam added to the mix, this dramatic film seems to shape as something to be really promising. The only question now is, will the film go on a happily ever after route, or will it be a tragedy? Guess that is what we'll have to find out when it hits the theaters this July 2019.

Feelennial (2019) Philippine RomCom film featuring Ai-Ai Delas Alas and Bayani Agbayani love team

What can be said about the Feelennial (2019) official movie trailer? Well, it seems like another standard Filipino romantic comedy film usually involving people over their 40s, it just happens to be that this time they choose to go with AiAi Delas Alas and Bayani Agbayani. One recent one that comes to mind is 2015's My Bebe Love: #KiligPaMore, but unlike that one this romantic film solely focuses of the love story of two people over their 40s rather than them being on the sidelines.

Feelennial 2019 Filipino romantic comedy film starring Ai-Ai Delas Alas and Bayani Agbayani falling in love in the millennial generation

Being the veteran Filipino comedic actors that they are, Ai-Ai and Bayani managed to create these likable characters in the movie. The protagonists, to me at least, have good chemistry. A typical story of a hostile relationship at first, but eventually blossoms into something romantic. This time this plot uses what is hip and cool with the millennial generation (drum rolls)... "social media", thus why it is named Feelennial (feeling millennial).

Finding You Film Trailer Review

Finding You 2019 Regal Films romantic movie with Jerome Ponce and Barbie Imperial

What can be said about Finding You (2019) official movie trailer? Well, it feels relatively fresh. This isn't the first time that a particular mental condition has become the main crux of the film (well besides the romance) as many films have used amnesia as its main plot line. But every now and then, we have these kinds of special mental health conditions. One recent film in particular comes that comes to mind is the 2018 film Kung Paano Siya Nawala starring JM De Guzman and Rhian Ramos that then featured a protagonist with prosopagnosia.

Finding You 2019 romantic featuring Jerome Ponce and Jane Oineza love team

The film also has good casting and its leads have great chemistry. Quite surprising if you look at it as what we can remember from the past, Regal movies usually include their fresh talents hoping something would stick but usually falls flat. This doesn't seems to be the case with Finding You. This could be just another subpar to average film about a love story of best friends eventually falling for each other, but it is a good thing that the leads have great chemistry and charisma with a condition not usually feature in such films. With all of this said, this is a good recommendation for everyone to go check out.

Felix Manalo Film Trailer Review

Felix Manalo 2015 Historical Drama Biopic Dennis Trillo playing as Ka Felix Manalo of Iglesia ni Cristo walking away from the Roman Catholic Faith to found Iglesia ni Cristo

So what is there to say about the Felix Manalo movie teaser trailer? Well it is two-minute long clip of what I assume is the full trailer of the Felix Manalo 2015 biopic. So instead of actual lines that could give us a preview of how the writing is like in the film, we are instead presented with the film's potential good musical scoring. Guess it is a thing with teaser trailers for biopics whiich can also be observed with the Kid Kulafu (Manny Pacquiao Biopic) teaser trailer when it was first released.

Felix Manalo 2015 Historical Drama Biographical movie about the founder of Iglesia ni Cristo where Dennis Trillo plays Ka Felix Manalo of INC

The Felix Manalo Biopic teaser trailer looks excellently shot. One can immediately say that the biographical film of one of the most influential religious leaders of the Philippines has a good production value. The biopic is also a period piece that gives us sneak peak on what life is like in the late 1800 to early 1900 here in Philippines; of the struggle of "Ka Felix" in founding a religion in a Roman Catholic dominated (in terms of religion) country like the Philippines. I for one am particularly interested to see this film out of curiosity of the life of the religious leader and how they are able to execute the 1900 Philippine setting. If I were to nitpick, one observation I noticed when it comes to Philippine produced period pieces is that the costumes are too neat and clean. It is like most costumes are straight out of a Filipiniana contemporary tailoring shop which can sometimes draw one out of the supposedly 1900 period. In addition, this biopic walks a very risky and thin line as it tends to get more criticism from both the believer and non-believer of the religious organization: (1) Criticism from the non-believers as they might not be open for it and may very well call this as a propaganda or agenda; (2) Criticism from the believers in terms that they might not like how their beloved leader will be portrayed, or how the film will take some liberties from the actual history of their leader. On the latter, I think the piece is well researched and I don't think well-known celebrities who happens to be also Iglesia ni Cristo members would take part in something that will give shame to either their church or its leaders. Viva Films is actually gambling and hoping for the best with this biopic. The only question now is will it sell in the box office?

How about you guys? What do you think about the biopic of 'Ka Felix' (known to his church)? Can you set aside your religious difference just to see a film that tells the story of someone who goes against your very same church? If you are a member of the Iglesia ni Cristo, what do you think of Dennis Trillo in playing the role of Felix Manalo?
