What can be said about The Unmarried Wife official movie trailer? Well, The Unmarried Wifethis is your stereotypical conveyor belt movie that taps the cheating, adultery, infidelity, and third party theme that seems to have sold so well,; to simply slap in "new" faces and you got a completely "new" and "different" film. So how does the film differs from the rest of the fruit of the recognizable tree? Well, it has a GMA talent Dingdong Dantes and ABS-CBN's Angelica Panganiban as its lead, and that's basically it as the trailer suggests so far.


The film just like similar countless films that came before it tackles a monogamous relationship turned sour by the husband's womanizing tendency which is the complete betrayal of the vows. I say if Star Cinema wants to revolutionize something, they could deal a much more taboo subject like a polygamous relationship or an "open relationship" to which partners give consent and permission for their partners to "play around" with other people outside their relationships. Too scandalous? Well, they have been going in a much more unconventional route so why not deal the much more liberal and taboo topic? Star Cinema can thank me later for the suggestion. But who knows, the Unmarried Wife could go that direction but from what we've seen its the usual drama set-up wherein the wife is undergoing the five stages of grief after the betrayal which is either hasten or slowed down by the introduction of Paulo Avelino's character.

So what is there to say about the Etiquette For Mistresses official trailer? First off, the film is inspired from a book published entitled "Etiquette for Mistresses and What Wives Can Learn From Them" by a Filipino author Julie Yap-Daza so this story has long been out there. It just so happen to coincide with how popular mass media has been using the idea of mistresses and illicit affairs on film and television. One can criticize that the local media has now been celebrating infidelity or endorsing polygamy which can be both true and false. There is a basis as to why the book came to be. That both men and women can commit adulterous or polygamous act. Reality can be much more brutal than how it is depicted on film and television. You can consider these kinds of films as a celebration of infidelity or a precautionary tale of what life would be like if ever you decide to be one. I would like to think that it is a fad in the mainstream media, but if it is not, then let's just hope that they can develop do that with other serious issues as well. That the film studious could do it in a more thought provoking way and not just another "Sex in the City" clone which by the way the Etiquette For Mistresses is giving off.


Etiquette For Mistresses is all about the story of these high society women which could either make the movie going audience curious or alienate them: curious to see as to how "miserable" the life of being a mistress is, and that amidst their riches they can't buy love or contentment with their partners; or alienate because infidelity is not widely acceptable topic for discussion and the mere fact that the characters belong to the "upper class of society" that people cannot really relate to. I am quite surprised at my reaction with my trailer impressions as I initially think that I would hate it, but surprisingly I did not. The film is still not on my preferred genre though, but I am curious. Will the Etiquette For Mistresses worth to seeing on the theaters? Do you like the acting chops showcased by the cast mainly Kris Aquino and Claudine Barretto? Are you the curious or the alienated?

So what is there to say about The Love Affair uncut trailer? Well besides some additional swear words that didn't made the local "family-friendly" television trailer, The Love Affair trailer is your basic drama film that once again deals with infidelity. This time it deals with the wife (Dawn Zulueta) cheating on her husband (Richard Gomez) who laters find it out and ends up encountering Bea Alonzo's character who was supposedly the bride-to-be to another cheater, Tom Rodriguez' character. Both Richard and Bea found solace and romance with each other's company and another movie dedicated to illicit affair ensues.


Now that we had another illicit affair premise tackled, there is nothing really that this film has to offer than a change of actors playing the title roles. The chemistry is always good with Richard-Dawn pair-up and Bea is always pretty to look at. Well, it is also probably exciting for fans to see Richard and Dawn back in the big screen again and one could say that it is probably enough for them to plow through the cliche'd and milked-to-exhaustion premise of adultery in Filipino films. Heck, we might even see a Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla with this kind of film ten to twenty years from now and people would still buy that thing. Well, to its credit, the film does make you question if it is justified to correct one wrongdoing with another... well, NO!; There, we finally answered it. So can we now not see the film? :D But seriously speaking, this film would probably bring up talks about divorce, grounds for annulment, morality or justification of committing acts of adultery. Well, I want to think that the film would be smart that way. Well hopefully I can hear that from you guys or someone who'll go see it. Give us a heads up here if ever it became a smart romantic kind of drama flick. Oh and one last thing, I'd call that Richard and Dawn will patch things up in the end. Call it a hunch or I could be wrong. :D
