Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers is a 2016 fantasy comedy film from OctoArts Films, M-Zet Productions, and APT Entertainment under the direction of Marlon Rivera and Tony Reyes starring Vic Sotto, Oyo Boy Sotto, Alonzo Muhlach, Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Paolo Ballesteros, Ryzza Mae Dizon, Epi Quizon and featuring the Eat Bulaga Kalyeserye couple AlDub, Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards slated for a November 30, 2016 theatrical release. Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers is the tenth movie installment based on the late 80's television sitcom Okay Ka, Fairy Ko! which also stars Vic Sotto in the titular role of Enteng Kabisote the courageous human who married a fairy princess. The last film that featured Enteng Kabisote was the Spin-off and crossover film "Si Agimat, si Enteng Kabisote at si Ako" back in 2012. Plot / Synopsis

Enteng Kabisote's (Vic Sotto) has come a long way from his days of being an electronics technician and now owns a tech and robotics company. Enteng seems to have everything working out for him, until his normal life as grandfather and innovator starts getting turn about by a latest threat from the fantastical realm of Engkantasya (land of Fairies from the "Okay Ka, Fairy Ko!" series) and beyond.

What can be said about Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers official movie trailer? Well, if you have been existing long enough and have been following the Philippine movie scene, you know exactly what to expect from Vic Sotto's Enteng Kabisote film franchise. Whether that be a good or bad thing and whether you like it or not, Enteng Kabisote is here to stay... or at least his descendants or if they decide the reboot the entire franchise, because... why NOT? This is the "big" movie for the EB Dabarkads, an Eat Bulaga December movie of sort, just like how the longest running Filipino noontime variety show makes a series of annual drama one-shots during the Lenten season. Oh and let me address one obvious criticism in this movie trailer besides Vic Sotto being too old fro this film franchise, yes it unapologetically parodies Hollywood blockbuster success Iron Man and the Avengers. Oh and there is the Lolas and the AlDub/MaiDen love team for the Eat Bulaga Dabarkads (who love them).


Did you know that Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers is the first Enteng Kabisote film (from the longf line of "Okay Ka, Fairy Ko!" film series) that will not be featured in the Metro Manila Film Festival? This is due to the now "improved" (?) and "higher qualifications" said to be applied and adapted by the people behind the annual mainstream holiday season Filipino film festival after a series of negative criticism hurled towards it. Vic Sotto's "Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers" has met the exact same faith as its usual rival from the competing network (ABS-CBN) in the annual film festival, The Super Parental Guardians. Just like how the two entries usually clashed with one another in past Metro Manila Film festival (and their Filipino noontime show counterparts, GMA Network's Eat Bulaga vs ABS-CBN's It's Showtime); the average Filipino movie going fans will once again be thrown in the collision of these two "great" forces clashing on the big screen.

Well what can be said about the Everyday I Love You official teaser trailer? From what we can make up with this short teaser trailer and the premise featured for on this Enrique Gil-Liza Soberano love team is that it is your average romantic film. You have this rich guy falling in love with a middle-class probinsyana who happens to already have a love interest which we won't possibly know how the outcome will be. Hmm, I wonder how the story will unfold on this one (Ahem)? It shouts the same old cliched story only with an Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano coat.


Well, for a film set to be theatrically release on October 28, 2015, the marketing team have only released the trailer last September 30 on Youtube. To the online marketing team's credit, they have provided a short summary for us to have an idea on what this romantic film will be all about. I personally find it a bit odd because they don't give this film as much hype than their other film (Etiquette For Mistresses); well at least not online. In these changing times, Star Cinema should at least tap its online market to create more hype for their movies; not just weeks but months before a new film's release. They should do it as aggressive and as effective as that seen on Heneral Luna which basically create a natural buzz for the film (to make it viral); breathing life on its own and make its fans promote the film for them through social network shares and discussion. I always see such lack of effort in promoting a film as a sign that the film studio has little faith in their title. That or maybe I am over-nitpicking these things up. Well Star Cinema is from ABS-CBN and they can market this film like crazy in the span of three weeks before its actual release. Guess they are not taking online marketing THAT seriously. Well after all Everyday I Love you feels like a film on a shoestring budget so if they lose money on it, it wouldn't hurt them; but enough talking about how they should market their films. Let's just see if this will be a "blockbuster" success or not.

So what is there to say about the Etiquette For Mistresses official trailer? First off, the film is inspired from a book published entitled "Etiquette for Mistresses and What Wives Can Learn From Them" by a Filipino author Julie Yap-Daza so this story has long been out there. It just so happen to coincide with how popular mass media has been using the idea of mistresses and illicit affairs on film and television. One can criticize that the local media has now been celebrating infidelity or endorsing polygamy which can be both true and false. There is a basis as to why the book came to be. That both men and women can commit adulterous or polygamous act. Reality can be much more brutal than how it is depicted on film and television. You can consider these kinds of films as a celebration of infidelity or a precautionary tale of what life would be like if ever you decide to be one. I would like to think that it is a fad in the mainstream media, but if it is not, then let's just hope that they can develop do that with other serious issues as well. That the film studious could do it in a more thought provoking way and not just another "Sex in the City" clone which by the way the Etiquette For Mistresses is giving off.


Etiquette For Mistresses is all about the story of these high society women which could either make the movie going audience curious or alienate them: curious to see as to how "miserable" the life of being a mistress is, and that amidst their riches they can't buy love or contentment with their partners; or alienate because infidelity is not widely acceptable topic for discussion and the mere fact that the characters belong to the "upper class of society" that people cannot really relate to. I am quite surprised at my reaction with my trailer impressions as I initially think that I would hate it, but surprisingly I did not. The film is still not on my preferred genre though, but I am curious. Will the Etiquette For Mistresses worth to seeing on the theaters? Do you like the acting chops showcased by the cast mainly Kris Aquino and Claudine Barretto? Are you the curious or the alienated?

So what is there to say about the Ex with Benefits trailer? Well besides the eye candies who are Derek Ramsay, coleen Garcia, and Meg Imperial sharing the same screen, it is your standard adult-themed romantic film. By now, it has become a norm that film studios are spewing up adult-themed film after the other. Just replace the previous ones with newer and much sexier faces, and there you have your "new" movie. While initially refreshing, it slowly gets exhausting as it now replaces and starts saturating the market. One evil replacing another, but I am digressing with this political commentary. Let's go back.


Ex with Benefits seems familiar to those who are aware of the "existence of Hollywood" as not long ago there is a 2011 Hollywood romantic comedy entitled "Friends with Benefits". I am not saying that it rips it off and glad they didn't. It is already "controversial" in its current state as some of the professional working in the medical profession thinks that it paints them in a bad light. Films has always been a reflection of society and if there is smoke, there is probably fire. Does one isolated case or a fictional movie affect a certain profession? It is like that one Philippine statesman who filed a bill that would prevent the entertainment industry from depicting men in power like politicians and police as villains or antagonists. A bill that is trivial at best, just like the controversy that seems to be surrounding this movie which I believe may very well be made up (for promotion). Well, if you are a fan of the "unconventional" romantic films with a PG-13 love scenes and fresh faces, then Ex with Benefits is probably right up your alley.
