What can be said about the Love is Blind (2016) official movie trailer? Well it feels oddly familiar. This kind of theme has been observed in Shallow Hal (2001) which stars Jack Black, but this time, roles have been switched and this Filipino film focuses more on the woman using the love potion that made the man see her in a particular manner. Love is Blind is probably one of those films that you really have to suspend your disbelief in order to enjoy its silly premise. Well, it is a comedy, so love potions probably work in such realms.


One can already think of how the film would end as it seems to imply that her friend probably fancies her even if she's not that good looking. This film had been out for some time now and have heard that there was some interesting twist in the end. Well if the conventional speculation is that she would end up with her guy friend, then the twist probably is the good looking guy actually like her as she is and is unaffected by the potion. Guess this is the only thing that would interest me to go see it if ever it gets a Philippine television premiere.

So what is there to say about the Ex with Benefits trailer? Well besides the eye candies who are Derek Ramsay, coleen Garcia, and Meg Imperial sharing the same screen, it is your standard adult-themed romantic film. By now, it has become a norm that film studios are spewing up adult-themed film after the other. Just replace the previous ones with newer and much sexier faces, and there you have your "new" movie. While initially refreshing, it slowly gets exhausting as it now replaces and starts saturating the market. One evil replacing another, but I am digressing with this political commentary. Let's go back.


Ex with Benefits seems familiar to those who are aware of the "existence of Hollywood" as not long ago there is a 2011 Hollywood romantic comedy entitled "Friends with Benefits". I am not saying that it rips it off and glad they didn't. It is already "controversial" in its current state as some of the professional working in the medical profession thinks that it paints them in a bad light. Films has always been a reflection of society and if there is smoke, there is probably fire. Does one isolated case or a fictional movie affect a certain profession? It is like that one Philippine statesman who filed a bill that would prevent the entertainment industry from depicting men in power like politicians and police as villains or antagonists. A bill that is trivial at best, just like the controversy that seems to be surrounding this movie which I believe may very well be made up (for promotion). Well, if you are a fan of the "unconventional" romantic films with a PG-13 love scenes and fresh faces, then Ex with Benefits is probably right up your alley.

Viva Entertainment just recently release the trailer for A Secret Affair which is from the title itself is a film about a secret affair... a love triangle between Anne Curtis, Derek Ramsay and Andi Eigenmann's characters. A Secret Affair is another film that joins the ranks of The Mistress and Unofficially Yours. It seems like 2012 is the year of Adult Themed Filipino drama films. So what can be said on the first official trailer for A Secret Affair?

There are no accompanying spoiler-full synopsis this time with the release of A Secret Affair's trailer. If you have been around Pinoy Movie Blogger, one of our biggest complaints about Viva Films is its irritating habit of spoiling the whole film through its synopsis shown on its official channels (FB Page, Website, Youtube Trailer Page). Well even if they did that on this film, it really won't matter as the trailer generally did that for them. So what is left for the audience to watch are the number of the confrontation scenes of the legal partners and the other women; and the conclusion for this adult themed love story. A Secret Affair features some of the most gorgeous faces in the industry delivering lines after lines of epic confrontational lines and sometimes cheesy ones only seen on films of such calibers. The big question now is will A Secret Affair comes close to a blockbuster success of what a Star Cinema film produced title of the same genre can? Will another film cashing in on the reality and considered villainy of third parties, mistresses, or other woman as a plot line be enough to make this a blockbuster success? or will it all be the gorgeous lead actors portraying the roles? That is what we'll soon find out this October.
