The Super Parental Guardians 2016 Pinoy comedy from Star Cinema featuring Coco Martin, Vice Ganda, Onyok Pineda, and Awra Briguela Bb Joyce Bernal film

What can be said about The Super Parental Guardians official movie trailer? Well, it is definitely a Vice Ganda movie. After the tragedy that befell the Kapamilya Network's star comedian (the passing of Vice' friend and usual director on his film projects, the late-Wenn Deramas earlier within 2016), there has been a hiatus on films that features Vice Ganda. Guess, the world has to eventually move on and Vice is once again back with his usual brand of "family-friendly" gay humor. Whether it works for you or not, it is here to stay and will be another blockbuster.

A little fact about the movie, The Super Parental Guardians was supposedly and maybe expected to be an official entry to the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival as it was submitted before the official deadline of submission for entries but "unfortunately" it was not selected as part of the official entries to the 42nd Metro Manila Film Festival this December 2016. The Super Parental Guardians will join the ranks of Our Mighty Yaya (Ai-Ai delas Alas), Mano Po 7: Tsinoy (Richard Yap), and Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers (Vic Sotto) that didn't made the cut due to the now "improved" (?) criteria imposed for entries. The Metro Manila Film Festival have been heavily criticized in the past for having overall low quality in terms of story and various technical aspects, now along with the new President this 2016, change also came to the MMFF.

It is usually an automatic blockbuster success if there is an entry featuring either Vice Ganda or Vic Sotto, but this time removing the entries from these two will finally make things interesting. Unfortunately there was a romantic comedy which is usually in the same league in terms of blockbuster success as the two, hopefully movie goers will find a new appreciation for other MMFF entries on the list besides the generic romantic comedies. What else is there to talk about with The Super Parental Guardians that has not been showed in the trailer. It is a chalk full of pop culture reference and features a larger than life and over the top characters—mainly Vice Ganda and even the child actors are also made this way—to act like the bratty effeminate caricature of the loud gay stereotype popularize in film nowadays. If Vice Ganda is your cup of tea, then there will be no stopping you from appreciating it whether The Super Parental Guardians is an official MMFF entry or not.

You’re My Boss
Plot / Synopsis

“You’re My Boss” centers on a smart and bossy airline company executive named Georgina (Toni Gonzaga) who will do everything to close an important deal with foreign investors. They, however, wouldn’t negotiate with anyone in their company save for their big boss, who’s on leave. In a desperate attempt to win them over, she introduces her assistant Pong (Coco Martin) as the president, and thus begins the pretense that will lead them to discover what’s real and lovable about each other.

You’re My Boss Film Trailer Review

You're My Boss stars Toni Gonzaga and Coco Martin and this only means one thing... another local blockbuster romcom from Star Cinema this 2015. Star Cinema can't really go wrong once they've included Toni Gonzaga as its leading lady and a highly likable script. Although if you carefully think about the plot of the film, you would ask on how can such a big time client (investor) not know who is the legitimate boss or the one that they should be negotiating with. Hopefully this is fluidly explained in the film so smart audiences can go on willingly suspending their disbelief.

Some few points worth noting, Star Cinema's website has finally included an official synopsis as press material. In the past I've noticed that most local studios don't even put up a decent plot or synopsis for their film to help promote their movie. It's a good thing that Star Cinema decided to finally put more effort to the official movie pages on their Star Cinema website (for more reference (events, press release, images) you can check out the You're My Boss official Star Cinema page). Give credit where it is due. I also would like to highly suggest that Star Cinema and other film studious should also include the talented writer(s) behind such titles.

Born to Love You Film Trailer Review

There is something about a launching movie films. A celebrity could either start right or not, in Born to Love You's case it looks like the latter. Although the main selling point of this film is the presence of Coco Martin alone.

Born to Love You 2012 Filipino Romantic Film Angeline Quinto Launching movie with Coco Martin

Born to Love You is a film screaming with cliches and mediocrity. Even the premise shown in the trailer is something that we have already seen in countless of romantic films under Star Cinema. Well, one may argue to give Miss Quinto a little slack because it is her first movie, but let's be honest will you see a romantic film seeing that there is no chemistry between the two actors who we were supposed to relate and cheer for? Well, chances are there will still be people watching this film...that is if you are just a fan of the Coco Martin, hahaha. This is probably the film's greatest strength but seeing this trailer with a "bleh" of a cliche premise, lack of chemistry, and a newbie's seemingly blank acting, I just don't think that this would not be one of those chick flicks that even my special someone can drag me into watching. Although I am not into romantic films, I can appreciate if a film under such category works, sadly Born to Love You isn't one of that. It looks like Star Cinema is experimenting on their romantic film pair ups nowadays. I've observed a similar case with My Cactus Heart earlier this year and look at how that film performed. Making romantic films doesn't cost that much and this is why we have tons of romantic films created year after year, so we can probably excuse Star Cinema for a few lame films this year? In the end, films like My Cactus Heart and Born To Love You that just cashes in on the face value rather than the storyline or chemistry are not the kinds of romantic (or romantic comedy) films worth the time, effort, and money.
