The Super Parental Guardians 2016 Pinoy comedy from Star Cinema featuring Coco Martin, Vice Ganda, Onyok Pineda, and Awra Briguela Bb Joyce Bernal film

What can be said about The Super Parental Guardians official movie trailer? Well, it is definitely a Vice Ganda movie. After the tragedy that befell the Kapamilya Network's star comedian (the passing of Vice' friend and usual director on his film projects, the late-Wenn Deramas earlier within 2016), there has been a hiatus on films that features Vice Ganda. Guess, the world has to eventually move on and Vice is once again back with his usual brand of "family-friendly" gay humor. Whether it works for you or not, it is here to stay and will be another blockbuster.

The Super Parental Guardians 2016 Vice Ganda Comedy film after Wenn Deramas loud gay comedy stereotype Vice Ganda brand of humor

A little fact about the movie, The Super Parental Guardians was supposedly and maybe expected to be an official entry to the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival as it was submitted before the official deadline of submission for entries but "unfortunately" it was not selected as part of the official entries to the 42nd Metro Manila Film Festival this December 2016. The Super Parental Guardians will join the ranks of Our Mighty Yaya (Ai-Ai delas Alas), Mano Po 7: Tsinoy (Richard Yap), and Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers (Vic Sotto) that didn't made the cut due to the now "improved" (?) criteria imposed for entries. The Metro Manila Film Festival have been heavily criticized in the past for having overall low quality in terms of story and various technical aspects, now along with the new President this 2016, change also came to the MMFF.

It is usually an automatic blockbuster success if there is an entry featuring either Vice Ganda or Vic Sotto, but this time removing the entries from these two will finally make things interesting. Unfortunately there was a romantic comedy which is usually in the same league in terms of blockbuster success as the two, hopefully movie goers will find a new appreciation for other MMFF entries on the list besides the generic romantic comedies. What else is there to talk about with The Super Parental Guardians that has not been showed in the trailer. It is a chalk full of pop culture reference and features a larger than life and over the top characters—mainly Vice Ganda and even the child actors are also made this way—to act like the bratty effeminate caricature of the loud gay stereotype popularize in film nowadays. If Vice Ganda is your cup of tea, then there will be no stopping you from appreciating it whether The Super Parental Guardians is an official MMFF entry or not.

Everything About Her Film Trailer Review

Everything about Her 2016 Star cinema drama featuring Xian Lim as Albert, the neglected Son by Vilma Santos

What can be said about the Everything about HHer official movie trailer? I can say that this film feels familiar but I just can't pinpoint how exactly? Maybe it is with the familiarity to Vilma Santos or Angel Locsin; or maybe a cancer patient suddenly turning a new leaf after knowing that she has only a few weeks to live. It is probably the latter. Vilma Santos tries to pull off an over-the-top over-privilege high-society career woman but, it rather than be taken seriously it seems like she is like a caricature of the real thing; a cartoon baddie that is aching to be reform by our super heroine, Darna... I mean Angel. Now that I mentioned it, both these actress have played the role of Darna in some point of their careers: Vilma Santos played Darna in film reiteration of Mars Ravelo's character with Darna and the Giants (1973), Lipad Darna Lipad (1973), Darna Vs. the Planetwoman (1975), and Darna at Ding (1980); while Angel Locsin played the titular role in the GMA Network's 2005 'fantaserye', Darna.

Everything about Her 2016 Star Cinema drama featuring Angel Locsin as Jaica, nurse to cancer patient Vilma Santos

Going back, the familiarity of the premise of someone who is initially vile at first but eventually change in the course of the film has been done in most films; it's called character development. Obviously there is no other route for Vilma but to soften up her comical villainy and you have a similarly comical nurse for that in the form of Angel Locsin who falls in love with the neglected son of Vilma. This is where the next familiar trope comes the condescending monster in-law like theme which eventually warms up to the daughter in law through a series of events that would bring them closer and in this film, it is the indefinite fatality of Vilma. One can already give two possible outcomes for this, the miraculous good ending or not. Still Angel and xian would end up together. I could be wrong, but this is just a 'wild' guess. But it could very well be something worthwhile especially as you have a top-billed actress (Vilma Santos) playing an unconventional role. That is probably worth seeing.

Of All The Things Film Trailer Review

Regine Velasquez and Aga Muhlach are back with another love story under the direction of Joyce Bernal from Viva Films with Of All the Things. The two lead stars can be called two of the Philippine showbiz industry's most successful leading man and leading lady of all time. They have starred in various romantic films and still look nice with them. You can literally pair them up with any stars and they will still look good together. So what more if you bring the face of 90's romantic film together? This 2012 Regine and Aga rom-com is a good news to all those who wanted to see them back on the big screen and to want some really funny and team up that actually works.

Of All the Things 2012 Filipino RomCom film about a fixer and a frustrated lawyer regive velasquez and aga muhlach reunion film Filipino movie

The film's plot is not that big of a mystery as it has been technically spoiled in the trailer which is such a shame really. Well at least they don't have some spoiler-ific synopsis on their official channels, but knowing that VIVA is behind this... I just don't know. Maybe a few days before the film gets released that VIVA will once again put some really frustrating stuff about the film on their websites. Well, if ever they do, it is not really that big as the plot of the film has been revealed in the trailer. Of All the Things feels very familiar but still very charming thanks to Regine and Aga. Really can't say the same with the plot and how the trailer spoils the plot, and how it is delivered. Of All the Things Youtibe trailer is of low quality making me think that the GMA and VIVA either think that Regine and Aga is enough to market the film, or they really think that the internet is an ineffective way to market their product. There is a reason why Star Cinema films have better box office sales than most film studios, it is because they lack proper marketing and utilization of the internet to promote their products. Well, it is safe to assume that Of All the Things will have a good run on the theaters, but what of other films from Viva and Regal? Well I maybe straying away too much from the film so I'll stop now. Will just make something about this whole poor marketing of some film production outfits here in the Philippines. Besides the low res resolution of the trailer and very familiar and formulaic plot, I believe that Of All the Things will still sell because of Regine and Aga. Let's give GMA Films more time to come up wih better marketing techniques, before the films actual release on September 26, 2012.

However, they end up being close to each other and appreciated the love as sisters.

Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme Film Trailer Review

There hasn't been that many newer comedy films that made me really laugh and 2009's Kimmy Dora was one of those selected few. It provided something fresh and something intelligent. It was a break from the regular and tiring mindless slapstick humor and social stereotyping that most Filipino comedy films have become. Now we have the sequel to Kimmy Dora Kambal sa Kiyeme (2009)...

Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme Lusito Go Dong Hae. Kimmy Go Dong Hae, and Dora Go Dong Hae goes to South Korea and hauntedby a white lady

While the first movie focus on the transition of Kimmy from being the villainous socialite to a less villainous socialite accepting her dim-witted and somewhat retarded sister whom she got separated at birth, Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme picks up and rewinds a bit. The humor shown in the trailers are pretty funny which made me more curious as to what more is in store for us. Well, it looks like Kimmy has not really lost her tyranny after going through her experiences and finding love in the first film. Dora on the other hand is still the same old dim-witted sister but now beloved and "accepted" by her sister, Kimmy. Eugene Domingo will once again prove her prowess in acting with playing these two different roles. I for one am pretty excited for this film, a comedy that seems to be right my alley... smart, fresh, and a little bit twisted. I just hope that it leaves up or exceed people's expectations and the hype.
